A lovely client located on a ranch in Montana is seeking a professional caring and energetic special needs teacher/ governess to assist in the care and education of their 9-year-old daughter.

As a teacher/governess you will be responsible for meeting the academic and social aspects of the child’s life. The child is developmentally delayed and requires a passionate teacher to provide a homeschooling environment for her.  A sensory-oriented, serene fun-loving environment needs to be created where the child feels safe to actively learn. Instruction and therapy will be conducted within a dedicated school house on the ranch. Duties will include: academic support, classes, life skills, daily care, speech development and escorting the child to and from her school.

This position provides the educator the opportunity to utilise proven skills on a 1:1 ratio and make a difference.

The family is currently working with a range of professionals and you will be expected to work alongside and follow guidance from such professions. You will also work alongside another candidate providing care and education at the family home.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified special educational needs teacher/governess who has previously worked in private households, providing 1:1 support. Special education techniques are needed for academic progress therefore knowledge and experience in this field is essential along with experience and qualifications working with children on the autistic spectrum. Experience and qualifications in speech and occupational therapy would be a plus. Characteristics and personality should include passionate, kind, caring, energetic, hard working, professional yet fun, engaging and willing to support the family

Responsibilities:
•    Teaching Life Skills: dressing, brushing teeth, independent feeding, etc.
•    Academic Teaching with Sensory Components/ Montessori /Creative Teaching Tools
•    Nurture Developmentally: physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially
•    Maintain child’s daily assessment log and daily communication with family
•    Integrate Music Activities, Playing the Piano is a Plus

The family has 2 younger children but the responsibility of the governess will be with the eldest.

The family resides on a ranch in Montana in a beautiful setting approx 45 minutes from the nearest town.

This is a live out position with a private 2-bedroom house provided on the ranch. The family offers a great package and really is looking for the right candidate to meet their daughter’s needs.

Salary on offer is $1000 – $1400 per week.

The working schedule is open to negotiation to the right candidate.

Requirements:

– Qualified and experienced special educational needs teacher/governess
– Legally able to work in the U.S.A
– Experience (4+ years) Working with Children with Autism Sensory Disorder
– Flexible Behavior Modification Experience
– Playing a Musical Instrument is a Plus
– First Aid Training and Child CPR a Plus.
– Available to start ASAP
